PLEASE NOTE IF THE ITEM YOU NEED IS NOT LISTED OR CORRECT ON YOUR REPEAT PRESCRIPTION SLIP YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT THE SURGERY FOR FURTHER ADVICE
As from 1st January 2010 the prescription ordering telephone line at the surgery will be closing. This decision has been taken in line with good practice guidelines on repeat prescribing from the Primary Care Trust. We appreciate that this may be a big change for some of our patients, but hope that you will like the new systems we have put in place.
How to order your repeat prescription
1) Repeat Order Slip - attached to your repeat prescription. Please tick the items you need and try to re-order all of your regular medication at the same time Please note that from time to time we may use the re-order slip to pass on important messages to our patients.
For safety and accuracy, we would also like to discourage patients from placing additional verbal or handwritten requests for medication, and remind patients of the Minor Ailments Scheme available at your local Community Pharmacy, leaflets available on request.
You can send in your repeat slip to the surgery by one of the following methods:-
- By hand – and posted in the Prescription Post Box located at the prescription desk
- By Post – Our address is Longton Health Centre, Liverpool Road, Longton, Preston. PR4 5HA
- By Fax – Our Fax number is 01772 611094
2) Via our Web Site – we have introduced a new style web site for the surgery which has a function to order your repeat prescription electronically on line. Please click on the link above to order.
3) Via your local Community Pharmacy – most pharmacies offer a prescription ordering and/or delivery service; please ask them for details
To accommodate these changes we will now require 48 hours to generate your repeat prescription. Please note that this will be from the time we receive your prescription request; therefore if you are ordering by post or through your pharmacist you may need to allow extra time.
Please allow 48 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays) for your prescription to be processed. It will be available for collection after 2.00pm
INFORMING THE PHARMACY
You must inform the Pharmacy that you wish to have your prescription picked up .
Not all Pharmacies collect prescriptions every day so it is important to inform the further afield Pharmacies that you wish to have your prescription collected. Please remember to give us a little extra time if you wish to pick your prescription up from the pharmacy.
Repeat Collection/Delivery Service from the Pharmacy of your choice
To subscribe to this service, contact the pharmacy of your choice who will give you details of giving in your repeat prescription at the pharmacy instead of at the surgery. Please note you should allow up to a week for delivery from the time you ordered your repeat prescription
PLEASE NOTE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A REPEAT PRESCRIPTION SLIP OR THE ITEM YOU REQUIRE IS NOT PRINTED ON YOUR REPEAT SLIP THE PHARMACY CANNOT ORDER YOUR MEDICATION. PLEASE CONTACT THE SURGERY FOR FURTHER ADVICE
ON-LINE SERVICE
The online service now remembers your prescription request. Once you have inputted your prescription details for the first time the page now asks you if you would like the programme to remember your details. If you answer yes the programme will remember your request for next month. You may also add or delete items as required.
Disclaimer
Please can we draw your attention to the disclalmer at the end of the prescription request page, especially if the programme is remembering your details.
PRESCRIPTION CHARGES AND PRE -PAYMENT CERTIFICATES
People who have to pay for more than 3 prescription items in 3 months, or 14 items in 12 months, could save money by buying a PPC. From 1 April 2008, the charge for a single prescription item is £7.10, whereas a 3-month PPC will cost you £27.85 and a 12-month PPC £102.50. The most convenient way to pay for your 12 month PPC is by Direct Debit meaning you can spread the yearly cost over 10 monthly instalments. Collect a form from your pharmacy or access the web at www.ppa.org.uk/pdfs/ppc/hc11.htm
Generic Prescribing
You may find that the name of your drug has been changed. Your doctor is taking this action in response to a request by the NHS. The receptionist is unable to make alterations to your medication and if you need further clarification, please make an appointment to see your doctor.
